March has definately rolled in like a lamb with the temp's up around the melting point and suppposed to be in the low 40's by the weekend. We have definately been spoiled this winter. Lets hope it continues!

Temperatures here have been quite nice the last week with day time high's reaching the mid 20's to as high is 34 F. a couple days ago. After just these few warm days, we are already starting to see where the snow is starting to compress and snow depths are deminishing. It's currently snowing now and temperatures are suppose to cool off so it may replace all thats melted so far. The lake trout fishing this winter in Whitefish Bay and Regina Bay has been excellent, many ice fisherman are saying "it's the best they seen". So Scott and I had to give it a try our self!

It turned out be another gorgeous winter day up here. We have been quite enjoying our warmer than normal winter (so far). Today was in the mid 20's F and now calling for snow tonight through to Monday. Supposed to get around 5" by tomorrow. Glad to see the days getting longer and the sun getting higher up in the sky. Won't be long until spring and green grass again.

Out for a stroll...
Out for a stroll...

We are back to winter again after our much enjoyed warm spell for the past couple of weeks. Over the weekend we experienced drizzle and freezing rain with temps around 32F, which pretty much left a layer of ice over everything by Saturday, and then turned to wet flurries that night and then to snow on Sunday. We received about 6" of snow overall by Monday morning, but the winds were quite severe out of the north at about 30 mph and the temperature kept dropping throughout the the day! So it was not a pleasant day to be in the outdoors. The winds layed down lastnight and thismorning we woke up to clear skies and about -5F. Back to the normals for this time of year, but we were getting quite spoiled to having the mid 20's all last week.

The winter so far has been quite gentle and we have been experiencing much warmer than normal temperatures for this time of year. We had a nasty cold snap right after New Year's, but right after that, we were back up into the 20's for highs. Today is supposed to be 27, and calling for 30 over the weekend, but with freezing rain and snow. These are some of the shots of the Lake taken the other day from the air. Snow conditions are light, so makes it easy for keeping the ice roads open and snowmobiling on the lake.

We had a very white Christmas from a fresh layer of snow that just fell over the past couple of days. The temperatures have been quite warm getting up into the high 20's, so being outside is quite pleasant for this time of year. Ice is thickening up as well, and now getting some snowmobile traffic occuring and should be starting to plow ice roads pretty soon. Wishing every a Happy New Year and all the best in 2010!

The lake has finally frozen over and is quickly making ice with this frigid Artic blast we've been experiencing. It is supposed to be very cold all week, so that will make ice fairly fast. Right now it is -7F (-22C) with a -22F (-30) windchill. Thismorning was -15F (-26C) with a windchill of -33F (-36C), so it's just cold!

The lake is desperately trying to freeze over, but the wind has been keeping it open. Thismorning was -9F (-23C), and the high only hit -4F (-20C) with a brisk northwest wind. As the wind is laying down, it is starting to skim over even more. The lake could freeze over tonight and be all ice by tomorrow morning if it stays calm. Tonights low is -9 again, and the forecast for the week is lows of -9 to -11F with highs in the single digits.
