The end to another great day of fishing

The sun going down in Yellowgirl Bay after a great evening of catching the evening walleye bite. They were hitting as fast as that jig could hit the bottom. Yesterday's highs were in the mid 50's and same the day before, so things are beginning to melt fast out there. The ice is changing quickly with no snow left on top, and starting to be soft on top. The air holes are becoming quite visible, and if conditions continue, we may have an early ice out this spring. Time to put the snowmachines away and can probably get 2 weeks on fourwheelers yet before the ice begins to get to dangerous for those.

A gorgeous pre-spring day!

March has definately rolled in like a lamb and we have been experiencing much warmer than normal temps, and are spring thaw is about a month early. And the official first day of spring is still 11 days away. All the roads are bare now, and the iceis beginning to flood with all the run off water. There is about 5" of water sitting on top of the ice and mixed in with the snow, so any lake travel by snowmachine or fourwheeler will be quite wet and slow. We have had rain the past couple of days, then cleared up today with the sun out and low 40's, then rain tonight, and forecasting highs of 52 for Saturday and Sunday.
