Last night as the sky's turned dark there was still a couple big chunks of ice in front. The wind had picked up during the night and at 5:30 this morning all that was left is a few real small pieces up on the shoreline. Thank you everyone for participating in the 2010 Ice Out Contest. The draw is now closed. Look forward to seeing you all this summer!

The ice is completely off Lake of the Woods and everything is back to open water again. The ice went out on Whitefish a few days after Regina Bay, and not sure of when it went out on Yellowgirl, but that usually goes out around the same time as Regina Bay. The water temps around our docks is 45 on the surface and will probably warm quickly as it's been quite nice out with no wind. It's been 68 the past couple of days and the lake was flat calm, today is only 45 with a bit of NE wind, but calling for 70 for over the weekend. Lets hope this trend continues. Should make for some great trout fishing and an awesome walleye opener!

Conditions are changing very fast out there and the ice is moving quickly. There was a light east wind today which has been moving things around and won't be long till open water. The temperatures were in the high 40's and overcast, but warm enough to still melt things. The North half of Regina bay in front of the resort is free of ice, but there is still a big chunk of ice to move on the south half out in front of the docks and stretches down eastward quite a ways.

So far this morning the temperature has only reached 41 degree's, there is hardly a breath of wind and the ice appears to be just paper thin.

Today was a big day for changes in ice conditions! The ice was very dark today around noon and by two o'clock the wind had picked up and a crack formed East to West down the middle of Regina Bay as well as another towards the North shoreline across from the resort. By 6 o'clock tonight, the ice had started moving some and we are seeing it pushing up on shore of the islands as well as a fairly large stretch of open water all along the north shoreline.

The last few nights temperatures have been dropping below the freezing mark so come morning it has to melt off all the previous nights new ice before making any new progress. It is starting to look pretty soft out there and just this evening a crack has formed and opened up a small area just East of the resort.

The ice is definately taking a beating the past couple of days with temps close to 60 yesterday and a little cooler today with it only hitting a high of 45. We have been having lots of wind as well, so that is definately playing havoc with the ice. The ice has been changing colours throughout the day with starting off a dark blue to black, then turning to a grayish white by thisafternoon. When it starts doing this, then it's not long before it starts to crack and break up. A few of the small lakes in the area are now open, and the shallow back bays are opening up, so it won't be long till our ice is gone.

Today was a beautiful Easter Day, temperatures cooled last night for a low this morning of 27F It took till early afternoon for the sun to melt the ice which was made last night. Temperatures climbed right back up there and by 5 o'clock this evening it was 55. Looks like it is going to be clear and sunny all this week, with temperatures holding around the 50 degree mark. In looking at the ice, you can see where it is very soft and rotten, we just need it to open up a little more around the shores and once it can start moving, it will go very fast! Good Luck everyone on your guesses, remember April 15th is the last day to get your prediction in so pass the word to family members and fishing buddies, time is running out!
