As the new year begins and we roll into the first week of January, mother nature has been certain to make sure we have a winter. No shortage of snow so far and temps have been on the normal side for January. Thismorning we woke to the thermometer dipping to -30C (-20F) and the high today hitting a balmy -22C (-7F). No wind out which makes it feel not as bad as it sounds. As they say at least its a dry cold!

We finally got a touch of winter yesterday with receiving about 3-4" of wet sloppy snow. The temps are mild and hanging around the melting mark, so it has settled and some has melted. Glad to see some of the whitestuff arrive. The small lakes and back bays are starting to skim over too, so won't be long now until we begin seeing the ice forming out here.

We had quite a melt here this past week and now it's cooled off some with a bit of snow left. The walkway is coming together quite nicely and in the process of putting the skirting up. Will be ready for decking soon.

A shot of the new 8' x 160' boardwalk we are building along the west shoreline of the marina bay. The steel framing is just about finished, just a few last I-beams to be put into place. Then ready for joists and decking, as well as 3 finger docks to be attached.

It would be! Put a turbine engine on your C185 and you will be able to maneuver in and around the docks and back it into a slip right behind my PA18.

It's a fine chilly one out there thismorning. Temperatures are at -30C (-23F) and with a light bit of NW wind it puts our windchill value at -40. But it won't stop the trout bite!

The lake is trying to freeze over. It had skimmed over Saturday afternoon, but the winds have opened up some patches out there. Still a big patch of open water to the very east, and Whitefish Bay is still wide open. May be end of the week before that area freezes up. Forecast is to warm up a little bit over the next two days with highs around -3 to -4C (25F) and then getting colder after Christmas. This has to be a record freeze up for the lake.

We've been getting dumped with snow over the past 2 days, with the heaviest on Wednesday. Overall the system dropped about 6-7" of the white fluffy stuff and bringing in some cold temps and stiff NW winds. The lake is trying to freeze as the wind is laying down, and as of thisafternoon we now have ice forming as far out as the end of the main dock. Forecast is for temps to dip to -18C (0F) tonight with highs over the weekend of only -10C (14F), so that should freeze things up! Looks like will be having a white Christmas afterall!

We have been getting our fair share of warm temps this fall, and has melted most of what ever snow we received earlier. Temps have been in the upper 30's (3C) and at night, only dipping to just below freezing. The lake is still wide open but do have ice on the back bays and smaller lakes. Hard to believe Christmas is only 2.5 weeks away, and 3 weeks to New Years!

Our extended long warm fall has come to an abrupt end with a blast of winter rolling in yesterday. Our temps dropped below freezing Wednesday night and the long term forecast is to stay well below the freezing point. We ended up with a few inches of snow yesterday and a stiff NW wind with drifting. Looks like old man winter is now here to stay.

It was a beautiful fall day out there today. Started off frosty with temps just below freezing, but warmed up to a highs in the upper 40's. The sky was clear and barely a wisp of wind. Days like these get rare this time of year, as we know the fluffy white stuff isn't too far out.
