Wondering if ice will be thick enough to drive on at Christmas time?

It should be pretty close. But things are going to be warm this weekend, so probably won't be making too much for ice, but then supposed to cool off again into next week. It all depends where you plan to go on the ice. Would be good for using snowmachines though.

Hows the ice thickness looking safe to walk and sled on yet?

Did an ice check yesterday and we have 8" at the end of the docks. So can sled it on it, but do have to be cautious of where you go. Have heard reports of the deeper trout holes having thin ice still.

The ice is just about safe enough. By next week should be able to start some lake travel. Have heard reports of upto 10" on the north end of the lake (which has been frozen for awhile) to still open water around the trout hole at Three Sisters Islands in Whitefish Bay. We've been frozen for about 10 days, and I'm guess would be around 2-3" of ice so far. Another week we should be ok to go out, but be cautious.
