It's Official! Regina Bay is completely free of ice this morning. We did have ice remaining to the east at sundown last night, but as of this morning the whole bay is completely free of ice. Congratulations to our 2015 ice out contest winner, Paul V. for placing the closest guess of April 30th, 10:30 A.M. for ice out.

Regina Bay is almost free of ice. We are all open out in front of the resort, but do have a fair bit of ice piled up yet about a 1/2 mile down the bay to the east. Just need some wind to get it moving. Conditions were flat calm thismorning, so some wind will help.

Just a small patch.
Just a small patch.

The ice is very close to being gone from Regina bay. Temperatures are holding fairly warm this evening, likely ice will be gone by dark.

These pictures were just taken at 12 noon, only a 2 hour difference from the other posting taken at 10 am this morning. The NW wind has been pushing the ice steadily and now the only ice remaining is just to the east. May be a bit yet today before that section opens up, but in front of the resort we are free of ice.

The ice is just about to go out. Temps did cool down last night to just above the freezing point and today's highs are around 50, but we do have a good NW breeze, which as started to push the ice out. We should be seeing Regina bay free of ice by thisafternoon if not earlier. Not much ice left to the east so what ice is left can move around quite freely to crumble away to nothing.

The ice is starting to move today. There is open water to the west of the resort beginning at the red and green markers and everything is open along the north shore. There is also open water way to the very east end of Regina Bay. The breeze picked up out of the NW mid afternoon so that began to move some ice. It is very thin, so it isn't going to take much now to get rid of it. Forecasting chance of showers tonight, and warm again tomorrow. At this pace, we could be seeing open water sometime tomorrow morning!

The ice is turning fast out there and getting very close to having ice out. If could be just a day away now if we get some winds. Temps are warm with highs in the mid 60's forecasted all week and staying relatively warm at night. The ice was white thismorning, but since then has started to turn black.

The warm weather we got on Saturday has been eroding the ice even more. It's turning black out there now.

Things are beginning to warm a bit and today finally saw the winds calm. It was cool, but with the sun being out, things were melting slowly. The sun has a lot of heat in it this time of year. There is more open water in areas that weren't open the other day, so that's a good sign. We are getting closer now!

The ice hasn't been melting much the past few days as this cold front has slowed things down. But we have had some strong north winds the past 2 days too, so even though it's cold, the winds are helping some. Yesterday morning we received about an inch of wet snow, so the moisture will also deteriorate the ice. Highs today are only 37F (3C) and nights have been freezing. Forecast for next few days is dry but cool(lows of 14F (-10C) and 23F (-5C) and highs just a bit warmer than we have today). But they bays are open and there is a crack forming out in the middle by the island, so our estimates are around the first week of May to open water. Will have to watch and see!

The forecast has taken a turn and we are experiencing a bit of winter again! Yesterday was a cool rain and today the temps aren't getting much above 35F (2C) with light snow flurries. Forecast this week is cold. Lows are dipping well below freezing (16-18F or -9C) at night with highs calling to only hit the upper 30's to 40F (4-5C). So this is going to slow the melting down by quite a bit. The backs of the back bays are pretty much open now, so just the mainlake to go. But I think that ice is still quite solid in the middle yet so could be a bit before we get a good crack to open things up.

Remember midnight tonight is your last day to get your entry in. Any entries received after that will not be accepted for the draw. Keep watching our bulletin board for more updated photos!
