Down to the final hours to get your 2017 Regina Bay Ice out guess in. Last night temperatures only dropped to around 50 degrees (10C) and today went right back up to the low 60's (15-17C) The wind switched today and is now blowing straight out of the North. With yesterday's South wind and today's North wind, we have seen many of the small lakes and back bays loss there ice, with some of the cracks that have formed out in front of the resort it may not be to much longer for the rest of the lake too start going too!

Today was another beautiful day with gusty Southeast winds. Temperatures last night only dropped to a low of 42 (6C) and we reached a high today of 63(17C). With the warm temperatures and wind the ice has changed significantly. This afternoon various cracks started forming and did see some ice starting to get pushed up along the North shoreline. Tonight our forecasted low is 50F (10C) with a risk of a thunderstorm and wind switching to the Northwest by morning. Temperatures into the 60's are forecasted again for tomorrow, so likely will see more significant changes.

Another day the temps broke 60F (16C) and high sunny skies. The ice was changing colour again looking even more rotten. Supposed to stay warm tonight with a low of 39 (3C) and tomorrow for Good Friday hitting a balmy 63F (17C) and strong SE winds. Those warm winds will definitely reak some havoc on the ice. Calling for warm rains tomorrow night and Saturday then a cold front coming thru keeping temps below freezing on Easter Sunday. Only 2 more days to get guess in!

The weather has been holding up great and taking it's toll on the ice. Temps the past few days have been in the upper 40's to almost hitting 60 today. We had a freeze the other night, but the past few nights have been hovering around the freezing mark. Forecast for the next few days is highs in the upper 50's to 60, and then cooling off on Easter Sunday for a few days. The ice has lifted from the shoreline as the lake is beginning to rise some. We've gained about 3-4" over the past 3 weeks. Only 3 more days to get your guess in!

The warm weather over the weekend really did some damage to the ice. Our highs on Saturday were hitting 60F (15C) and staying quite mild over night. Then sunday was in the 50's with a stiff wind, so the ice has changed colour again getting pretty mushy. Last night our temps dipped down to the low 20's (-8C) so that tightened things up a little bit. Forecast this week is a bit cooler with freezing tonight, but still plenty warm enough to be melting during the day. A lot of the shallow weedy back bays are beginning to open and look pretty rotten.

The bays are starting to get all soft and mushy, especially where the sun is shining. Not much for runoff anymore as most of the snow has melted already, but still some water coming in at the creeks and low areas. The temps have been staying warm but our nights have been cool dipping below freezing. but the ice is still melting, and deteriorating more everyday. Forecast is for highs in the mid 50's tomorrow and mid 60's for Saturday, but then cooling and freezing hard at night starting Sunday and into the week.

The ice has really taken a beating over the weekend with the warm temps and strong south winds we've been having. Most of our snow is now gone and the top of the ice is getting soft as the old slush crust is beginning to melt. Forecast for the week is calling to be upper 50's during the day and barely hitting the freezing mark at night.

22
22" but starting to honeycomb on the top

We have had quite a warmer than normal March this year, causing almost all our snow to melt and no protection from the sun on the ice. The temps the past 2 weeks have been in the mid-40's to 50F during the day time, and dipping to just below or hovering around the freezing mark at night. With these conditions it has taken a toll on our ice. Forecast is to continue to be above normal temps throughout next week. Taking an ice check out in the middle of Regina Bay yielded 22" of fairly solid ice. The top 2" was starting to honeycomb some and a little soft and spongy on the surface.
