May 8th - Gone!
All open around the resort All clear to the northwest All clear to the east
Regina Bay is now officially clear of ice as of first thing thismorning! We had some east winds in the night and throughout the morning and by early this morning the last bit of ice was gone! These are some ariel shots of looking down Regina Bay showing all open water! Congratulations to Laura McKinnon on winning our ice contest with her ice out guess of 10:00 A.M. thismorning being the closest. And a big thanks to everyone who submitted an entry. Let the season begin!

May 6th conditions - 5 pm
A little southwest wind kicked up later this afternoon and began to move the ice around. Anywhere there was a crack really opened up. We could be looking at open water tomorrow!

May 6th conditions
The ice is turning blacker and looking pretty thin. Lots of big cracks are forming out there. No wind to speak of today, but forecasting some stiff SE winds for tomorrow. We are very close. Maybe a day or two away if we get the right wind. Forecast is to be in the low 70's tomorrow!

May 5th conditions
Today the temps were pretty warm again but not much for wind. Yesterday we had a strong NW wind which really played havoc with the ice. A few cracks started to form out from the beach area and the west end of regina bay was gettimg more and more open water. Noticed a bit of ice starting to pile up on the little islands out front. The ice has turned black and with a little help with some wind we could be a day or two from open water!

May 4th conditions
The ice is turning fast and getting really close to going out. Estimating maybe 4-5 days away with the current weather forecast of warm temps and strong NW winds. The ice has been whitish in the colour, but today is changing to a dark gray, which will then turn black. Just need a few big cracks to show up in the middle so it can begin to work against itself and break up.

May 1st conditions
Things cooled off some today with the high barely breaking 40F (4C), but we did get quite a rain and thundershower roll through last night. The rain pounded the ice pretty good, and today has it looking all white and dark gray underneath. When it's honeycombed like this it is quite rotten and probably wouldn't hold too much weight. Forecast for the next few days is to warm back up with highs in the upper 50's to mid 60's and sunny, so it will be eating up the ice. Remember, midnight tonight is the deadline to have your ice-out guess for the ice out contest.
Get your guess in soon!!

April 30th conditions
The ice has really started to turn over this past weekend. The quite warm temps (highs in the mid 60's) we had along with strong winds is changing the ice pretty fast. It is fully honeycombed and beginning to change colours steadily throughout the day from gray to white to the next step turning black. Forecast for the next few days is showers and thundershowers starting tonight to Wednesday, a little cooler tomorrow and then turning and staying warm for the rest of week. So we are getting close to open water and it may come a little earlier than we may have initially expected. And be sure to get your ice out guess in, as today is the last day to enter the contest!

April 26th conditions
This warm weather continues and over the past couple of days the ice has deteriorated even more, and turning quickly! Temps were again in the 50's with a strong warm south wind, so it is eating ice fast. Our snow is pretty much 95% gone, and now can really do with some rain. Forecast is a chance for showers overnight and little cooler tomorrow, but then heat right again over the weekend.

Looking pretty honeycombed!
The temps over the weekend were up there and quite warm with highs in the upper 50's and barely freezing at night. This really took a toll on our snow and ice conditions. Also had some warm wind with it too, so that can deteriorate the ice quite quickly. Am still able to drive an ATV on the lake, but do have to watch your shore's and avoid the dark spots on the ice. The ice has started to honeycomb, which means it is getting weaker. Still about 24" left out there, but when it honeycombs the elements can penetrate it much faster. Forecast for the week is too cool down some, but still warm enough to melt things.

26" of ice yet! Lots of snow on the beach
Spring has finally arrived and we are starting to see some melting occur. Temps the past few days have been in the 50's and only down to the freezing point at night. Forecast for the weekend is warm with temps in the mid-50's and lows staying warm, so this has expedited the melting. There is still a lot of snow on the south shorelines but most of the north shorelines are pretty bare. We still have a lot of ice out there and quite solid, and still some minor vehicle activity on the ice roads. An ice check out in the middle of Regina Bay yielded 26" of pretty clear solid ice yet.
